The idea for the Valley Art Project started over a year ago. I wanted to draw a landscape every week for 52 weeks. By keeping the scenes local and of the area, I hope to shine a light on the beauty right here at home. The goal is to show the extraordinary scenery you can find in your own backyard.
Through colored pencils, acrylic and watercolor, I aim to capture light, shadow, texture, and a sense of timelessness. I know a piece is done when looking at it, I feel what first inspired me to draw it. When others see my work, I hope they're filled with the same sense of wonder and excitement for the Shenandoah Valley.
I hope this will inspire others to experience the countryside.
After starting this, I have seen so many creative artists online. The medium might be oils, acrylic or even crafts. Their Blogs have so inspired me. Thanks to all the creative people out there who share their stories and work. I can't forget the food blogs. Thanks to all!
Hello "You" (in the absence of a name)!.... Very much enjoyed my first visit to your wonderful drawing project site!
Good for "You"... to take on a 52 week drawing challenge... a great way to begin the process of forming discipline, "You are well on the way to that goal.
Your landscapes show great colour... design and passion for what you are "seeing"... and recording!
Thanks for your gracious comment and visit to my site! Glad that my work and thoughts add to your own journey!
Dear Pam, It's always so relaxing to see your work. You have an incredible talent to capture not only what you see but what each of us experiences. During my daily runs or walks with my beagle Bailey we hike in the woods off Rt 32 near Sykesville and I swear I could just sit and watch and listen to the stream flow over the rocks as it runs down the hill from the dam. Your drawing takes me there in an instant and brings a sense of peace in the comfort of the family room fire. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas and a wonderful New year!

WOW! I think this one is my favorite=0) I could spend hours just looking at the water and rocks. I'm sure it's even more gorgeous in person.
