The idea for the Valley Art Project started over a year ago. I wanted to draw a landscape every week for 52 weeks. By keeping the scenes local and of the area, I hope to shine a light on the beauty right here at home. The goal is to show the extraordinary scenery you can find in your own backyard.
Through colored pencils, acrylic and watercolor, I aim to capture light, shadow, texture, and a sense of timelessness. I know a piece is done when looking at it, I feel what first inspired me to draw it. When others see my work, I hope they're filled with the same sense of wonder and excitement for the Shenandoah Valley.
I hope this will inspire others to experience the countryside.
After starting this, I have seen so many creative artists online. The medium might be oils, acrylic or even crafts. Their Blogs have so inspired me. Thanks to all the creative people out there who share their stories and work. I can't forget the food blogs. Thanks to all!
very nice. You asked on my art blog about how I post my paintings on my blog. I don't know if this is-or that there is a proper way of doing it but I have a Cannon 30D Digital camera that I shoot a photo of. I find it works best to shoot it in the shade by laying the painting flat on the ground or cement and shooting it trying to make sure the image is centered. It seems as though the time between 10 AM to 3 PM works best in the shade for good lighting. Hold steady or use tripod. I then download the pix on my camera and with the photoshop that came with the computer crop it and post. I do notice on our gallery computer it does not show off as well as on my computer. I have heard from others that different computers makes a difference as to the quality of the image. Hope this answers your question.
I DO like it! And I love your light touch. Are you using colored pencils? Graphitints? Beautiful!
