This is a view looking out into my backyard.
Aw, wildlife.
This is a lead pencil drawing.
Kind of boring if you like color but, I hope you enjoy it.

Drawing-week 13

This is a nice spot to view the valley below.
This is at the overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway called
The Raven's Roost.
I hope you get a feel for how high you are up in the mountain.
This is my favorite spot on the parkway and
we have had many picnics there.

Drawing-week 11

This is a Dam in Augusta County, Va. I wanted to keep the palette simple. I used maybe 12-14 colored pencils
and my lead pencil. I kept the foreground mostly neutral.
I wanted your eye to be forced into the background.
Thanks for looking!

Drawing-week 9

Some say this is the Northern tip of the Shenandoah Valley. Harpers Ferry, WVA is
rich in history and beauty. It is definitely
worth the trip. This view is from the backside
of the huge church on the hill.

I wanted to keep this drawing simple.
Thanks for all your comments!
They really mean alot.

I thought this would be a pretty picture to draw.
Up on the Blue Ridge Parkway there are beautiful shrubs that
bloom in spring. They are called Mountain Laurels.
This was at the Humpback Rock visitor center. Thanks for looking.
I hope you love my drawing!

This is Buffalo Lake in West Virginia in the Monongahela National Forest.
There are rough camping sites around the
22 acre lake.
The Lake is regularly stocked with trout.

Drawing-week 5

This scene is from Covington, Va. It is the Humpback Bridge.
There is a sign near it that reads "Humpback Bridge constructed of Hand Hewn Timbers in 1835 for the James River Kanawha Turnpike Corporation remained in public use until 1929."
The bridge was moved in 1953 to its present location.
I used more of a "line drawing" technique for this
in hopes of giving it an older feel.

Drawing-week 4

This scene is from the Humpback Rocks Mountain Farm.
At milepost 5.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway there is a rest stop-visitor center. The buildings are from nearby structures that have been moved there so visitors can get a sense of what a 19th century working mountain farm would have looked like. Open during the summer months there are costumed rangers demonstrating crafts and skills necessary for daily farm living.
I hope you enjoy my drawing of it.

Drawing-week 3.......SOLD

This scene is at the James Madison University's Arboretum. Located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, this is a really great place to go and relax. There are beautiful trees and plantings. Lots of benches to sit and take it all in.

The stream and waterfall are very soothing.

It is free and open to the public.

Drawing-week 2...............SOLD

This scene is the Middle River next to Bald Rock Road off of Rt. 11 in Augusta County Virginia.
I love these beautiful birch trees. The bank along this river is really starting to erode. These lovely trees are in danger of falling over into the water.
